2013 in 12 pictures

I made a calendar for family members for Christmas presents and I'm copying the pictures I used for each month below. They sum up my year, although of course I had to take December from last year's photos, not that it's any different this year. I decided to go with collaged pictures as I had taken too many photos to just pick two or three to sum up each month! The captions are as on the calendar.

January - Snow and ice but still some flowers

February - Wild things and tame things

March - New life then yet more snow!

April - Blossoms, bulbs and blooms

May - Our holiday in Spain

The bright colours of June

July - Harry and Bertie arrived to keep Hallie company

August - Butterflies galore

September - Days out in Brittany with Mandy's mum and brother

October in England with both our families

November - Autumn colours

Drippy December

Best wishes for a Happy New Year, and I hope that 2014 brings you health and happiness. Wealth, whilst nice, is less important. :-)

    1. I could have sworn I replied to this yesterday, Marie-Helene!
Maybe I did my usual trick of typing the reply then forgot to click to post it, something I do sometimes elsewhere!
Thanks very much my friend and Happy New Year to you. :-)

  2. Fantastic summary, Mandy! Your photography rivals the professionals! I look forward to seeing more from your part of the world in 2014.

You can probably tell I've been in a blue mood. All photographers go through it every so often so I know it will pass eventually but I hope it's soon. I'm in charge of one sector of a Bird Count area this week and although we aren't expecting to see a lot of birds in my particular sector, I think it will be a good shot in the arm, so to speak :-) Happy New Year!

    1. Marianne - thank you very much my dear, you have been very supportive this year and I thank you for that, also really helpful with tips regarding equipment and how to use the SX50!

I do hope your mood passes soon. I can't imagine it is the weather where you are that causes it! Your spring will come soon and you'll have wildflowers and butterflies before the rest of us and then you'll be desperate to photograph them all. The Bird Count sounds like fun and I hope it gets you in the right mood - good luck. Happy New Year to you too!

  5. Hello Mandy! What a joy it was to browse through your year. I'd be very happy to be a member of your family and be thrilled to receive this calendar. I am already thrilled as a non-family member, hope that counts as well? Love your snowballing! And what a purple drop delight in December!
Am I right in supposing the man in the first October photo is your father in law?
Wishing you and your loved ones (including the cats!) a very happy and inspiring 2014, dear Mandy.
A combination of wealth and health seems appealing to me :-)))

    1. Hi Jan - the man in the photo is my Uncle and that's a cheating photo from late Nov 2012 which is why there are some Xmas decorations in the corner of the photo! I didn't take any pics of my Uncle this last October. My father in law is in the picture below which is of my inlaws. I shared these photos in November on blog posts but I don't know if you were looking back then.

I'm happy you like these pictures and I have kept one of these calendars for me too so I can enjoy it too! The purple by the way is purple curly kale, a tasty and very photogenic vegetable. :-)

You need happiness as well as that wealth and health! Rich, healthy and miserable is no good! :-)

    2. Thanks very much for your reply, dear Mandy (although I don't like you cheating on me, LOL!) Remember the blog from November, now I see my mistake :-(
Never heard of this purple veggie!
Wealth and health can be a good starting point for happiness, and knowing you, as well as a number of others already adds to it!

    3. Curly kale is very popular in the Netherlands, you may know it as Boerenkool? I just grow the purple version as it's funky! :-)

    4. Ah, you got me there, Mandy! I know the boerenkool, but don't think I've made acquantaince to the purple kind, very funky indeed! ;-))
