The many faces of a Blue Tit

Blue Tits (Cyanistes caeruleus) are such characterful little birds, so I've compiled a selection of my favourite shots all showing a different expression or emotion. Of course, that's adding a human touch as I'm quite sure they don't feel half of what I'm showing below, but it's just a bit of fun!

Attentive Bird

Sad Bird

Angry Bird

Cute Bird

Dopey Bird

Thirsty Bird

Hungry Bird

Fluffy Bird

Icy Bird

And my favourite... Chilly but very Cute Bird

  4. I love Chilly but very Cute Bird, I'm just wondering if it's the same bird in all the photos. Do you keep it in a cage overnight and bring it out for a photo shoot according to the weather?

    1. Hi Philippa! That's funny - it looks like that. There is no difference between males and females so all I see are masses of the same identical bird! Soon they will disappear from the feeders though once they have young as they go out and search for little caterpillars to feed them.

It's quite amazing how suddenly the fat balls will just sit there mostly uneaten and then when the young fledge mum and dad will teach the new ones about the food from the feeders. They still know about finding their own food though as that cycle happens year after year. :-)

    1. I know! They are the bird equivalent of saltie spiders - always really cute!

  6. I still like the 'sad' photo best with the Harry Lauder stuff.

    1. I had to look up Harry Lauder to see what you were on about! I have never heard of that hazel being called that. Thanks Nick!
