Congratulations also to Karavikar Svetasreni who I share this accolade with. Have a look at her blog State of Being - she writes about environmental issues from her home in Bangkok.
I also wrote a guest blog post about pollinating insects for the main site (as opposed to the forum where I have been blathering since 2005!) at Selfsufficientish.com which I was pleased to have been asked to contribute to.
So, not wanting to post on my blog without a photo, and in the absence of a photo of me playing a trumpet, a pic of me playing the recorder in my primary school orchestra will have to do. Yes, I was once, erm, 'musical' (in other words, my recorder playing was preferable to my singing voice, and that probably is still true to this day).
2nd row back, on left, dark top, nearest the piano. C'est moi. |
Cute picture! And thank you for the mention :))
ReplyDeleteMy pleasure - you deserve it!
ReplyDeleteSo all that "blonde" hair is dye?
ReplyDeleteLol
Well, I could post a photo of me when I was a nipper when I was naturally blonde, and the blonde now is only streaks! But if you are who I think you are, you'd know all that anyway ;-)
DeleteWell blown and well deserved. When I read your blog I feel the Gallic sun on my face, here the Galline scratchings and smell the... well, anyway, very well done.
DeleteI'm afraid those wooden recorders with plastic mouthpieces place us squarely in the 60s. Never could get the hang of the piano: I found one note at a time more than sufficient. Must dig out the ancestral penny whistle... More nostalgia: http://www.google.co.uk/products/catalog?q=Robin+Williamson:+the+penny+whistle+book&hl=en&prmd=imvnso&biw=1438&bih=815&um=1&ie=UTF-8&tbm=shop&cid=17320433951060379497&sa=X&ei=-rF8T4OvCM3m8QOlndidDQ&ved=0CEAQ8wIwAA
60s? Harumph! This photo is circa 1972! I can play what I was told was called Chopsticks on the piano, but it isn't the more complicated version that everyone else calls Chopsticks, and even searching on Youtube doesn't produce what the tune is :-/ I can also play Good King Wencelas and Do a Deer.
DeleteAnd thank you for you lovely comments :-)
Though blowing our own trumpet is not good, but sometimes we need to do, that is not bad too LOL
